Its being reported by TV Line that Odette Annable will not be a regular on “Breaking In”, she will be a recurring cast member!

As for the rest of the ensemble: TVLine has learned that Odette Annable, who during Breaking In‘s brief canceled state joined the cast of Fox’s House, will reprise her role of savvy, sexy Melanie in “multiple episodes” but not reclaim series regular status.

The show returns to FOX on March 6, airing Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30c.

‘House’ is mixing things up again for its eighth season (premieres Mon., Oct. 3, 9PM ET on Fox), bringing in two new female doctors to fill the void where Lisa Edelstein’s Cuddy and Olivia Wilde’s Thirteen used to be.

Yes, we’ll get a bit more Thirteen, just not much … but once you meet Fox’s other new girls, you might not mind. Comedienne Charlyne Yi’s Dr. Chi Park, who shares a bit of Thirteen’s tightly wound nature, is introduced in the second episode, and Odette Annable’s whip-smart Dr. Jessica Adams proves she’s not afraid to challenge House in the season premiere.

I caught up with Annable to talk about Adams, her potential romantic interests at Princeton-Plainsboro and her efforts to be House’s equal.

Annable also talked about being hazed on set, pulling double duty on ‘Breaking In’ (and wanting a crossover episode between the two shows) and whether or not she’d want her real-life husband, ‘Brothers & Sisters’ alum Dave Annable, to come guest star.

Congratulations on the new gig! I love that ‘House’ is always trying to mix it up, bring in new people, keep things intereting.
Thank you! I’m so humbled and I’m so grateful to have this opportunity because, you know, it’s very rare that a show’s in its eighth season and is still so up to par. The caliber of the writing and acting is so amazing.

What about this character made you want the job?
Well, the thing that’s so interesting about her is she comes from a very wealthy family, and she doesn’t have to work, but she wants to. She’s so passionate about medicine, and that’s a testament to her character, because she works at the prison and she really doesn’t have to. She went to Johns Hopkins, which is one of the best medical schools you can go to, so that shows a lot about her character. And her thing is she’s sort of an overachiever with a cause; her cause is to help people. So her dynamic with House is also very interesting.

Odette Annable has revealed that she is hoping to star in both House and Breaking In.

The actress played Melanie on Christian Slater sitcom Breaking In until the show’s cancellation in May.

She later joined the cast of House as a series regular, but Fox subsequently reversed its decision on Breaking In and picked the comedy up for a second season.

Annable told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m very excited to be on the same network doing two different shows, playing two completely different characters, on a drama [and] on a comedy.”

She added: “I hope that they’re going to be able to work it out. I’m ready and willing.”

Annable joked that her two characters could meet in a crossover between House and Breaking In.

“I keep pitching that Breaking In should break into House’s office and I can be there and then Melanie and Dr Adams… can battle it off,” she laughed. “And there we go. No scheduling conflicts.”

The eighth season of House begins on Monday, October 3. Breaking In is expected to return in 2012.

Here’s some more news about the renewal of “Breaking In” from AOL TV!

Now it’s official: Against all odds, ‘Breaking In’ has officially been renewed for a 13-episode second season on Fox.

“‘Breaking In’ is a creatively vibrant and wildly adventurous comedy,” said Kevin Reilly, Fox’s entertainment president, in a statement. “We are looking forward to bringing it back for a second season and continuing our relationship with this incredibly talented cast and these fantastic creators — Adam Goldberg and Seth Gordon. We can’t wait to see where they take these characters next year.”

‘Breaking In’ follows an unorthodox security team headed by Christian Slater, and also stars Bret Harriso, Alphonso McAuley and Odette Annable. According to a report yesterday, although Annable has signed on as a new series regular on ‘House,’ she has a provision in her contract that allows her to return to ‘Breaking In’ in the event of a second season.

‘Breaking In’ joins an elite group of shows that returned from cancellation, which includes ‘Family Guy,’ ‘Futurama,’ ‘Jericho’ and ’7th Heaven.’ It’ll be Slater’s first show to last more than a season — previously, ‘The Forgotten’ and ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ lasted one season each.

This isn’t ‘Breaking In”s first resurrection — Fox originally passed on the pilot, but brought it back as a midseason show earlier this year. No official premiere date for Season 2 has been announced except that it will return in 2012.

In an unusual twist of fate, the Fox comedy series Breaking In has essentially been resurrected.  Back in May it was announced that Breaking In had been canceled by the network.  At the time this was an unusual move because while the ratings weren’t stellar, they also weren’t terrible, and many people were plerplexed by Fox’s decision to cancel the show.

Deadline is now reporting that Fox will be bringing the show back with a 13 episode order for its midseason schedule.  The Breaking In pilot was originally ordered for the 2009-2010 season, but was never picked up by Fox. Sony Pictures TV kept the show alive by extending the contract options for cast members.  In November 2010, Fox decided to order 7 episodes of the show and agreed to air them after American Idol in the spring.  The show bounced around on the schedule and then was ultimately canceled before it could finish its initial run.  But Sony TV kept fighting for the series and now Breaking In joins Family Guy as the only shows to survive multiple cancellations.

Despite the fact that cast member Odette Annable has joined House as a new regular, she and the rest of the original cast will return for Breaking In’s second season.  Hopefully we’ll hear news of the premiere date later in the fall.

There’s a new doctor coming to House this season, with Odette Annable joining the series in Season 8. Actually, the Cloverfield alum could potentially be pulling double duty at FOX in the next few months, should the network decide to resurrect Breaking In – Annable’s spring comedy, which was cancelled, only for the network to recently consider bringing it back.

Earlier this month, at FOX’s TCA (Television Critics Association) party, I spoke to the actress about her new role on House and Breaking In’s potential future.

IGN TV: What’s it like joining such a big, well-established show like House?

Odette Annable: I can’t believe I’m here! I feel like I’m doing Breaking In stuff, but I’m not. I’m not a motorcycle-driving, badass degenerate. I’m an actual doctor on House. It’s pretty amazing. I feel very grateful, very lucky. It’s great.

Those slippery snakes on Fox’s freshly canceled Breaking In just might elude termination after all.Though Fox gave the midseason comedy — as well as Lie To Me, Human Target, The Chicago Code and Traffic Light — the hook earlier this week, TVLine sister site Deadline is hearing that the network is in talks with production studio Sony Pictures TV about ways to keep the workplace sitcom around come fall.

Were the Christian Slater-fronted series to dodge this latest bullet, it’d mark the second time it has cheated death, seeing as Fox originally passed on the pilot a year ago.

With its most recent outing, Breaking In brought in a few more viewers (totaling 7.65 million) but dipped a bit in the demo (to a 2.4). Its season finale is set to air next Wednesday.

No official decision on Breaking In‘s fate is expected until Fox holds its 2011 upfronts event on Monday.

Christian Slater just can’t catch a break when it comes to television. My Own Worst Enemy was cancelled by NBC in 2009 and ABC’s the forgotten was canned in 2010. Now, FOX has cancelled his new sitcom, Breaking In, after one short season.Breaking In follows a team of misfits who run a high-tech security operation and take extreme (often questionable) measures to sell their services. The comedy stars Slater, Bret Harrison, Odette Yustman, Trevor Moore, and Alphonso McAuley.

The sitcom debuted on April 6th to a healthy 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.82 million viewers. Those look like solid numbers when viewed alone but are far less impressive when you consider that the series lost more than 50% of the lead-in audience from American Idol.

In week two, Breaking In lost 26% of its premiere audience, scoring a 2.6 rating and 7.79 million total viewers. Weeks three and four dropped as well. Last Wednesday’s episode scored a 2.4 in the demo and 7.07 million. That represents a retention of only 36% from the American Idol lead-in.

Despite the fact that Breaking In has a better average than already-renewed Raising Hope and Bob’s Burgers, FOX has decided to cancel the TV series after one season and seven episodes. It would seem that, despite what some may believe, lead-in retention does matter.

The remaining two episodes of Breaking In will air tonight and next Wednesday, May 18th. Hopefully Slater will have better luck next time — perhaps on a CBS series?
